APPARITION
Apparition celebrates life and death in a way that makes us lose ourselves in the circular dance that connects them. The pieces explore themes of dreams, life, death, love, nature and motherhood. It is a circular experience in which both nature and Icelandic folklore play an essential role. The performance includes Crumb, Sibelius, Icelandic folk songs arranged by Viktor Orri, and a world premiere by Nico Muhly.

”The moment when Álfheiður walked back into the darkness as she sang The Night in Silence Under Many a Star by Crumb was indescribable. It was like merging with the night and the stars, disappearing into the cosmos and the darkness. It was a powerful musical enchantment and spectacle; a unique, unforgettable artistic event.”

HOMESCAPES
Homescapes: the (physical or figurative) landscape of one's home or homeland. But what constitutes a home? At what point does a place once foreign become one of refuge? Can it be found within an embrace? A regard? A song? A smell? In a dress or under a wig? How do we change once we are there?
